Definitions of key game elements and Web3 tech terms

Use this page as a quick reference for the different terms used in this guide and on our social media platforms.

Key Elements of the Game

Statuette (🗿)

This is the key to the platform and what allows you to collect your daily claim ingredient and mix recipes.

Ingredients (📦🫙🥡)

Ingredients are NFT elements that you mix together to create potions (complex ingredients) and access crystals (presale tickets).

Blue Clay (🔵)

Blue clay is the most common ingredient and the only ingredient that must be used for each recipe. Every time you mix a recipe, your blue clay is burned (used up), regardless of whether the recipe is successful or not.

Daily Claim

Once you have a statuette, you will be able to connect to the platform and claim a free ingredient every day, known as the daily claim.

Mixing Recipes

Mixing is the action of combining three different ingredients along with blue clay. At the beginning of the game, users will have to test many different recipes before they find successful ones, though they are encouraged to share correct recipes with the community once they find them.

When mixing a recipe, your blue clay with always be burned, even if the recipe is unsuccessful. However, your other 3 ingredients will only be burned if your recipe is successful.

Potions (🍶⚗️🧪)

Potions are complex ingredients created by combining 3 different ingredients together. There are three levels of potions: Level 3, Level 5, and Level 7. Each level corresponds to the number of total ingredients that were used to create the potion. So:

  • A level 3 potion (🍶) is created by combining three ingredients

    📦+🫙+🥡 = 🍶

  • A level 5 potion (⚗️) is created by combining a level 3 potion with two different ingredients

    🍶+ 📦+🫙 = ⚗️

  • A level 7 potion (🧪) is created by combining a level 5 potion with two different ingredients

    ⚗️ + 📦 + 🥡 = 🧪

Access Crystals (💎)

Access crystals are like presale tickets to mint your Smurf NFT before the main auction event. You can create access crystals by mixing different ingredients and potions together. Most successful recipes will result in creating potions, but some recipes will create both a potion and an access crystal.

Loot Boxes (🎁)

Loot boxes contain one or more ingredient(s) and will be airdropped into members' crypto wallets as rewards. You can receive loot boxes for a variety of actions, like winning challenges on Discord and engaging with The Smurfs' Society posts on Twitter or other platforms.

Tech Terms

PFP

Acronym for Profile Picture. This is the common term used for NFT collections that are designed to be used as profile pictures on Web2 and Web3 platforms.

Most PF collections are comprised of different combinations of "traits," like accessories, colors, facial expressions, etc. that have varying degrees of rarity. The rarer the traits of each unique NFT, the more valuable it usually is.

To burn (an NFT)

Burning an NFT is the equivalent of destroying it. The burned NFT is sent to an unaccessible crypto wallet effectively removing it from circulation.

There could be several reasons to burn NFTs, but the most common in the case of gaming and PFP collections is when you combine NFT elements to create a new NFT.

To mint (an NFT)

Minting an NFT is the process of publishing it as a unique digital asset on a blockchain. Once minted, an NFT can be bought, sold, and traded.

The cost to mint an NFT depends on the price the seller sets. NFTs can be free to mint, or they can require payment in a currency linked to the particular blockchain it will be published on.

Gas fees

Gas fees are the transaction fees associated with minting, buying, selling, and trading NFTs. Gas fees can vary depending on a variety of factors like

  • Which blockchain an NFT is stored on

  • The time of day the transaction occurs

  • The volume of transactions happening at the same time

  • The market

To reveal (an NFT)

Some NFTs are designed to be minted without revealing the actual image of the NFT. Sometime after the mint period for the collection ends, the NFTs will be revealed and you will be able to see the NFT, its traits, and rarity level.

DAO

Stands for "decentralized autonomous organization." It is an organization constructed by rules and smart contracts encoded as a computer program that is often transparent and controlled by the organization's members rather than a central entity or government.

Web3 Language

gm

Stands for "good morning." This greeting is commonly used on Web3 forums and other social media platforms to start the day with a positive attitude.

DYOR

Stands for "do your own research." Don't just take someone else's advice without doing your own research first.

NFA

Stands for "not financial advice." Similar to DYOR, NFA is used to remind people not to blindly follow everything they hear or read.

It is commonly used after someone discusses or makes recommendations about crypto or other digital assets but doesn't want to be blamed for bad investment advice.

frens

A shortened form of the word "friends" used within the Web3 space to talk about fellow enthusiasts, community members, or peers.

HODL

Warped form of the word "hold." Stands for “Hold On for Dear Life” and is used to describe the strategy of not selling your digital assets in the hopes that they will increase in value (even amid extreme price changes in the market).

BUIDL

Similar in origin as HODL, but used as a rallying cry to build and contribute to the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem, instead of passively holding.

WAGMI

Stands for "We're all gonna make it!" Another rallying cry within the Web3 and crypto communities to spark enthusiasm and lift morale.
